We have had a relationship with a private meteorological firm for over 15 years, whose only specialty is to forecast and provide detailed weather updates before, during and after the storm. They provide us with a detailed update, 2 hours before snow or ice hits the ground, for our entire service area. They also provide us pinpoint accuracy updates on demand. This is particularly helpful in dealing with lake effect snows during rush hour. Moreover, this helps us apply the correct application rates of deicing chemicals in each weather region, based on ground temps, predicted snowfall amounts and moisture content of the snow. Our meteorological firm is available to us 24/7 throughout the winter and is entrusted with accurate forecasting not only by us, but by nuclear powerplants in our region and across the U.S. They are available 24/7 to us throughout the winter.
Reliable has provided channel 19 with live camera feeds from our trucks throughout Northern Ohio for over the past 5 years. In return, Channel 19 provides detailed weather reports in real time by strategic zones throughout Northern Ohio. Reliable also has immediate access to the channel 19 meteorological team of 8forecasters. This relationship is particularly helpful in getting the most accurate lake effect forecast available in real time.
Over the last 35 years, we have developed an amazing set of electronic tools, that are uniquely organized to provide maximum situational awareness of each region. These tools include weather modeling, hundreds of live weather cameras, detailed weather data for each airport (the same level of info commercial pilots use for flight planning), and hundreds of pavement sensors throughout Northern Ohio.
Reliable has a state-of-the-art command center located at the company headquarters in Macedonia Ohio. The command center has over 70 live camera feeds that are strategically organized by region to monitor live weather conditions. This gives us tremendous situational awareness of the entire operation. This is a proprietary system that is unique to Reliable Snowplowing, giving us a distinct and strategic advantage. We receive live weather feeds from our weather rovers and those that are responsible for quality control. This has the following features:
This room is also available to all of our field managers remotely. Ask us for a personal tour!
When snow or ice is predicted, we deploy weather rovers to monitor the development of the storm. This provides an additional first-hand account from our boots on the ground, ensuring we accurately time our service to meet our customers' needs. (the whole system is proactive versus reactive) We constantly monitor over 14 micro-weather patterns throughout Northern Ohio. These weather rovers are equipped with live snow plow cams (proprietary to Reliable) that provide a live weather feed back to our command center, ensuring maximum situational awareness for leadership and management across the entire organization.
